Photojournalism and Documentary Practice

Our one-year immersive program at Dikan is designed to train creative leaders in visual storytelling, aiming to drive positive change in Africa and beyond. We provide a global visual education, emphasizing leadership and authenticity, to develop participants into impactful storytellers. Our learner-centered teaching approach balances theory and practice, promoting collaboration, critical thinking, and real-world application. The program fosters community through seminars, interactive discussions, and critiques.

Guided by experienced instructors in photography and journalism, students acquire a comprehensive skill set and diverse perspectives, covering news, documentaries, editorial work, and multimedia projects. Participants learn effective publishing strategies and engage in news assignments and long-term documentary projects. By the end of the program, they will possess essential investigative skills and technical proficiency in visual storytelling, particularly in still photography. The program includes hands-on experience, equipping participants with the expertise to research, analyze, and create compelling visual stories with depth and accuracy.
