HerPress
Open Call for Women Journalists
Are you an early to mid-career woman journalist in Ghana driven to create meaningful stories, build impactful communities, and elevate your journalism career? The HerPress Initiative, led by Dikan Center, invites you to join our dynamic three-month journalism empowerment program designed to unlock your potential and amplify your voice.
HerPress addresses critical challenges facing women journalists, including gender bias, workplace harassment, unequal pay, and limited leadership opportunities. From June to August, through targeted training, mentorship, and community-building, you'll gain skills in investigative journalism, leadership, ethical reporting, and safety practices, requiring five days per month.
Selected participants will benefit from comprehensive workshops on investigative journalism, leadership, ethical reporting, and safety practices (both physical and digital), requiring a commitment of five days each month. You will be matched with experienced industry mentors who will provide personalized guidance and support. Additionally, our engaging speaker series will feature distinguished international women journalists, bringing valuable global insights and fostering cross-cultural exchange. Participants will also receive a stipend to support their involvement.
As part of the HerPress Initiative, you will produce practical journalism projects focused on critical but underreported topics such as gender-based violence, public health, and human rights. Your work will be promoted through a dedicated media campaign, significantly boosting your visibility and public engagement. The program concludes with a formal graduation and networking event, celebrating your achievements and connecting you with key industry professionals.
HerPress aims to build a strong community of empowered women journalists who will lead transformative change toward a more inclusive, equitable, and representative media landscape in Ghana. If you are ready to amplify your voice, apply now and join us in shaping the future of journalism. Supported by the Australian High Commission in Ghana.
