About the workshop.

A 4-day immersive workshop for photojournalists in Ghana that delves into the art of visual storytelling and photojournalism. Led by renowned photographer Pete Souza and Photo Editor Alice Gabriner, this workshop is your opportunity for photographers to master the craft of captivating storytelling through the lens.

 Through engaging discussions, presentations, hands-on exercises, and reviews, participants will delve deep into the core components of visual narrative. Gain invaluable insights into the intricate nuances of photojournalism, equipping them with the tools to convey impactful stories through the lens. Students will learn to capture compelling and impactful images that tell a story, provide insight into the political process, and engage viewers.

Learn the art of discerning the pivotal moments to understand the art of sequencing images for maximum resonance, and refine once editing skills to curate a seamless and compelling body of work. By the culmination of the workshop, photojournalists will wield the expertise and awareness to create visually.

 Dikan Center is dedicated to nurturing and empowering Ghanaian photojournalists. Our vision for this workshop is to furnish photojournalists with the essential skills, knowledge, and ethical foundations required to adeptly cover the upcoming 2024 elections, counter disinformation, and safeguard the principles of press freedom. As the second instalment in a series of transformative workshops, activities, and events, this workshop stands as a testament to our commitment to enhancing media literacy and upholding the press's liberty within Ghana. This workshop is part of capacity building with the U.S. Embassy Ghana for photographers and videographers.
